how much is a teeth cleaning in cincinnati

If you’re due for a dental cleaning or it’s been a while since your last visit, one of the first questions on your mind is probably: how much is a teeth cleaning in Cincinnati?

Whether you’re a new patient or just comparing prices, understanding the cost and what’s included can help you make an informed decision about your oral health.

In this article, we’ll break down the typical cost of a cleaning, what affects the price, and why regular cleanings are one of the best investments you can make in your smile.

What Is Teeth Cleaning?

A dental cleaning, also known as prophylaxis, is a preventive procedure performed by a dental hygienist to remove plaque, tartar, and surface stains from your teeth.

It typically includes scaling, polishing, and a fluoride treatment to keep your teeth healthy and prevent gum disease.

Regular cleanings are essential not only for maintaining fresh breath and a bright smile, but also for detecting early signs of cavities, gum issues, or other oral health problems.

How Much Is a Teeth Cleaning in Cincinnati?

The average cost of a standard dental cleaning in Cincinnati ranges from $75 to $200 for patients without insurance.

This can vary depending on the clinic, whether you’re a new or existing patient, and whether the cleaning is part of a comprehensive exam package that includes X-rays.

How Much Is a Teeth Cleaning Without Insurance in Cincinnati?

If you don’t have dental insurance, the cost of a standard teeth cleaning usually starts at around $100, but may increase if X-rays or a full exam is included.

Some Cincinnati dental offices offer new patient specials, bundled deals, or in-house membership plans to make preventive care more accessible.

This was my first experience of tooth preparation for a cap, and I was anxious and nervous. Dr. Prywitch, assisted by Journi, were an excellent team. They took the time to explain everything that was going to be taking place while addressing all of my questions and concerns.

This is a fantastic dental practice! The dental hygienists are all very friendly, everyone at the front desk are incredibly polite and helpful with scheduling and billing questions, and the dentists are knowledgeable and always open to discussing any dental health concerns that I’ve had.

I usually don’t make time for this part. But I couldn’t help but share my experience with Mrs. Duncan today. She performed my tooth extraction, I was so nervous. She made me feel extremely comfortable. She explained every step of the process. I was experiencing high blood pressure upon arrival and she was patient with me. I’m 44 now, and I can’t imagine going anywhere else.

I just had the best teeth cleaning of my life! All thanks to the folks @ Hyde Park Dental Arts. I have been going to see Dr. Logeman since I moved to the area in 2017. I had terrible oral health genes passed down to me, which led to many dentist visits earlier in my life. Since going to Hyde Park Dental Arts, all the previous dental work has been corrected and I have never had healthier teeth.

The dentists and staff here are the best. I couldn’t ask for anyone better, more thorough, or precise. Mallory explained what she was cleaning, and what she would do next. A very efficient office.

Staff was good. Clean and comfortable office. Dr.Logeman was great, very through with the information he provided. He made sure I understood everything before I left his office. His assistant for that day made me feel right at home, bc I can get a wee bit nervous sitting in a dental office/chair.

What’s Included in a Dental Cleaning Appointment?

A routine cleaning usually includes:

  • Removal of plaque and tartar using hand tools or ultrasonic scalers
  • Tooth polishing to remove surface stains
  • A fluoride treatment (optional but often recommended)
  • An oral exam by the dentist (often included during your visit)

Appointments typically last between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your oral health and the type of cleaning needed.

What If I Haven’t Had a Cleaning in Years?

  • If it’s been several years since your last cleaning, your dentist may recommend a deep cleaning instead of a standard one. This involves scaling and root planing to treat early signs of gum disease and remove tartar below the gum line.

Deep cleanings are more intensive, may require multiple visits, and generally cost $150 to $300 per quadrant without insurance.

How Often Should You Get a Teeth Cleaning?

The American Dental Association recommends getting a cleaning every six months, though some patients may need more frequent visits based on their oral health.

If you have a history of gum disease, smoking, or are prone to plaque buildup, your dentist may recommend visits every 3–4 months.

Is Teeth Cleaning Covered by Insurance?

Yes, in most cases. Preventive cleanings are typically covered 100% by dental insurance plans if performed every six months.

Make sure to check your policy for limitations on frequency and whether your provider is in-network to avoid unexpected out-of-pocket costs.
