This was my first experience of tooth preparation for a cap, and I was anxious and nervous. Dr. Prywitch, assisted by Journi, were an excellent team. They took the time to explain everything that was going to be taking place while addressing all of my questions and concerns.

This is a fantastic dental practice! The dental hygienists are all very friendly, everyone at the front desk are incredibly polite and helpful with scheduling and billing questions, and the dentists are knowledgeable and always open to discussing any dental health concerns that I’ve had.

I usually don’t make time for this part. But I couldn’t help but share my experience with Mrs. Duncan today. She performed my tooth extraction, I was so nervous. She made me feel extremely comfortable. She explained every step of the process. I was experiencing high blood pressure upon arrival and she was patient with me. I’m 44 now, and I can’t imagine going anywhere else.

I just had the best teeth cleaning of my life! All thanks to the folks @ Hyde Park Dental Arts. I have been going to see Dr. Logeman since I moved to the area in 2017. I had terrible oral health genes passed down to me, which led to many dentist visits earlier in my life. Since going to Hyde Park Dental Arts, all the previous dental work has been corrected and I have never had healthier teeth.

The dentists and staff here are the best. I couldn’t ask for anyone better, more thorough, or precise. Mallory explained what she was cleaning, and what she would do next. A very efficient office.

I was greeted with a smile when I walked in the office. The dentist and assistant were nothing short of friendly and professional. X-rays, dental exam and teeth cleaning were all completed, and I left happy without feeling any “pressure sales” during my visit. I would definitely recommend Hyde Park Dental Arts.

Staff was good. Clean and comfortable office. Dr.Logeman was great, very through with the information he provided. He made sure I understood everything before I left his office. His assistant for that day made me feel right at home, bc I can get a wee bit nervous sitting in a dental office/chair.

I have been going to this dental office my entire life of 44 years. Everyone has been extremely nice and Dr. Logeman has been the best destiny you could ask for. The entire office seems like they are a part of the family!

Signs That You Need Teeth Cleaning

While brushing and flossing daily are important, professional cleanings can remove plaque and tartar buildup that regular oral hygiene can’t address. Here are some signs that it might be time for a cleaning:

  • Persistent bad breath that doesn’t go away with brushing can be a sign of plaque buildup or gum disease.
  • If your gums bleed while brushing or flossing, this could be an early warning sign of gum disease.
  • If you notice a yellow or brown film on your teeth, it could be plaque or tartar that can only be professionally cleaned.
  • Gums that are swollen or red can be a sign of gingivitis or gum disease, both of which require professional care.
  • If you notice persistent staining on your teeth despite regular brushing, it may be time for a teeth deep cleaning.

Types of Teeth Cleaning

Our teeth whitening process is straightforward and designed to provide noticeable results. Here’s what you can expect during your visit:

Regular Teeth Cleaning (Prophylaxis)

This is the most common type of cleaning, typically done during your routine checkup. It involves removing plaque, tartar, and surface stains, leaving your teeth polished and fresh.

Deep Cleaning (Scaling and Root Planing)

For those with gum disease or significant plaque and tartar buildup, a deep cleaning is recommended. This procedure goes below the gum line to remove hardened tartar and smooth the roots of your teeth, helping gums heal and preventing further damage.

Gum Disease Treatment (Periodontal Cleaning)

If you’re experiencing gum disease, this cleaning method focuses on treating infection and inflammation in the gums. It involves scaling the teeth and roots to remove bacteria and toxins, promoting gum tissue reattachment.

Teeth Cleaning & Dental Exam Procedure

The teeth cleaning and dental exam procedure is simple and effective in maintaining your oral health. Here’s what you can expect during your visit to Hyde Park Dental Arts in Cincinnati:

Consultation & Assessment
We’ll start by reviewing your medical history and discussing any dental concerns you may have to tailor the best treatment plan for you.

A thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and overall oral health is performed.

We check for signs of cavities, gum disease, or any other oral health issues. If necessary, X-rays may be taken for a more detailed view of your teeth and jaw.

After the exam, the dentist will clean your teeth, which includes: scaling, polishing and flossing.
Depending on your needs, we may apply a fluoride treatment to strengthen your teeth and protect against cavities.
After the cleaning, you’ll receive guidance on how to maintain your oral hygiene and keep your smile healthy. If any issues were found during the exam, we’ll recommend the appropriate treatment plan.

Benefits of Regular Teeth Cleaning and Dental Exams

Prevention of Tooth Decay

Regular cleanings remove plaque and tartar buildup, preventing cavities and gum disease before they start.

Healthier Gums

Routine exams help identify early signs of gum disease, which can be treated before it progresses to more serious stages like periodontitis.

Brighten Your Smile

Teeth cleaning removes surface stains, leaving your smile brighter and more polished.

Save Time and Money

Preventive care reduces the need for more complex and expensive dental treatments down the line.

Teeth Cleaning FAQ’s

The cost of a teeth cleaning without insurance can vary depending on your location and the complexity of the cleaning. On average, a standard cleaning may cost between $75 and $200. It’s best to contact us for an accurate estimate based on your specific needs.
A routine teeth cleaning usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the condition of your teeth and gums. If a deeper cleaning is needed, it may take a bit longer.
Deep cleaning, or scaling and root planing, is a more thorough cleaning treatment for individuals with gum disease. It involves cleaning below the gum line to remove plaque and tartar buildup from the roots of your teeth. This helps to prevent further gum issues and restore oral health.
For most people, it’s recommended to have a professional teeth cleaning every six months. However, if you have specific dental issues or are at higher risk for gum disease, your dentist may recommend more frequent visits.
You can generally eat right after a teeth cleaning. However, we recommend waiting at least 30 minutes if fluoride treatment was applied, as this gives the treatment time to work. Additionally, avoid eating sticky or staining foods immediately after the cleaning for the best results.
